Resetting your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors

Many of us have hardwired smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide detectors. Did you know that it is a good idea to reset your alarms after changing the batteries? Sometimes, that annoying periodic chirp continues even after several attempts to change the battery or check the connections. A simple push of the reset button will clear any errors logged and you can begin with a fresh slate. In most cases this reset will resolve the issue. If it doesn't, call a qualified electrical professional to check your system. These alarm units can and do provide precious seconds to escape a home fire.
